Alternative Splicing of RIOK3 Engages the Noncanonical NFκB Pathway during Rift Valley Fever Virus Infection

چکیده

Although the noncanonical NFκB pathway was originally identified as a cellular contributing to lymphoid organogenesis, in past 20 years, its involvement innate immunity has become more appreciated. In particular, been found be activated and even exploited by some RNA viruses during infection. Intriguingly, activation of this shown have role disrupting transcription type 1 interferon (IFN), suggesting rationale for why response could co-opted viruses. Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is trisegmented ambisense that poses considerable threat domestic livestock human health. Previously, we showed atypical kinase RIOK3 important mounting an IFN RVFV infection epithelial cells, shortly following with (MP12 strain), mRNA alternatively spliced X2 isoform encodes truncated protein. Alternative splicing inhibitory effect on but also stimulates NFκB-mediated inflammatory response. Here, demonstrate alternative associated suggest (MP12) enhance viral success

Rift Valley fever virus.

Vet Med Today: Zoonosis Update 883 R Valley fever virus is a mosquito-borne pathogen of livestock and humans that historically has been responsible for widespread and devastating outbreaks of severe disease throughout Africa and, more recently, the Arabian Peninsula. The virus was first isolated and RVF disease was initially characterized following the sudden deaths (over a 4-week period) of ap...

Rift Valley Fever Virus Infection among French Troops in Chad

To the Editor: During the rainy season every year, outbreaks of self-limiting nonmalarious febrile syndromes have occurred in French military troops on duty in Chad. To determine the cause of these syndromes, the Tropical Medicine Institute of the French Army Medical Corps implemented an arbo-virus surveillance program in Marseille. During summer 2001, we collected samples from 50 soldiers who ...

Rift Valley Fever Virus Infection in Golden Syrian Hamsters

Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is a formidable pathogen that causes severe disease and abortion in a variety of livestock species and a range of disease in humans that includes hemorrhagic fever, fulminant hepatitis, encephalitis and blindness. The natural transmission cycle involves mosquito vectors, but exposure can also occur through contact with infected fluids and tissues. The lack of appr...

Molecular Epidemiology of Rift Valley Fever Virus

Phylogenetic relationships were examined for 198 Rift Valley fever virus isolates and 5 derived strains obtained from various sources in Saudi Arabia and 16 countries in Africa during a 67-year period (1944-2010). A maximum-likelihood tree prepared with sequence data for a 490-nt section of the Gn glycoprotein gene showed that 95 unique sequences sorted into 15 lineages. A 2010 isolate from a p...

Molecular Biology of Rift Valley Fever Virus

Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) causes large outbreaks of acute febrile and often fatal illness among humans and domesticated animals in sub-saharan Africa and the Arabian peninsula. RVFV is a member of the family Bunyaviridae, genus Phlebovirus. Like all members of this large virus family, it contains a three-segmented genome of negative/ambisense strand RNA, packaged into viral nucleocapsid pr...
